Fundus Dilation

A dilated fundud examination is and additional procedure that allows the optometrist to conduct a more extensive evaluation of hte internal sturctures of the eye. The best view of the fundus is obtained through a dilated pupil and this is achieved by using medicated eye drops.

The optometrist may recomment that this procedure be done especially with patients who are elderly, myopic have vascular systemic disease, or report symptoms such as sudden changes in vision, flashes or floaters.
